Photoacoustic Spectroscopy

Middleton Research provides applications and engineering services in conjunction with the patented photoacoustic gas measurement system developed by Gasera Ltd of Turku, Finland. The PA-101 Photoacoustic Gas Measurement System works with most FTIR instruments having appropriate mirror scanning velocities. The measurement system is capable of sensitivities comparable to long-path gas cells and liquid nitrogen cooled detectors. The PA-101 replaces the gas cell/detector combination with a unique short and low volume gas cell connected to the patented MEMS based optical microphone. Unlike conventional gas measuring systems, the short path of the PA-101 assures linearity of signal over a wide concentration range and allows excellent water subtraction without compromising the sensitivity of the gas detection.
